NatureScapes.Net celebrates its second year online in August 2005! A dedicated team of staff, columnists, moderators, and even the membership have worked hard to make the site a great resource for nature photographers around the world. More and more we receive feedback about how NatureScapes.Net has helped someone to improve their craft, which is immensely gratifying to hear.

We want NatureScapes.Net to be a one-stop resource for nature photographers of all experience levels. Monthly articles provide location, technique, equipment, and other pertinent information to photography. The active online forums offer opportunities for discussion on a variety of topics and for image critiques. Member portfolios can be set up by paid members, allowing easy display of nature images on the web and a single place for potential photo buyers to visit in looking for photographs. Our online store continues to expand with field-tested products of interest to the nature photographer, at the most competitive prices possible.

Perhaps the most exciting component of the site is its forums and active community, with nearly a half million posts in less than two years! Virtually every question receives its first helpful, educated answer within a short amount of time. Recently, two new forums were created to encourage discussion on the topics of environment, conservation, and ethics, as well as the business of photography. The activity in the image critique galleries is evident, with a current average of twelve comments per photo. And the activity is growing!

The contributions of many people help make NatureScapes.Net the place that it is. We would like to take our anniversary as an opportunity to thank our forum moderators, a fantastic team of individuals who each contribute so much: Alan Murphy, Mike Wilson, KK Hui, Cheryl Ertelt, Carol Clarke, Tim Grams, Ken Cravillion, Wil Hershberger, Michael Brown, Tom Whelan, Alfred Forns, Paul Klenck, Danny Young, Fabiola del Alcazar, Scott Bourne, Carolyn Wright, and Rod Barbee. We would also like to thank our web team, Juan Pons and Brian Spangler, for helping us make site improvements. In the last year Brian implemented the integrated image upload service and engineered member portfolios. We have excellent columnists, plus other writers who have contributed articles, to keep our content fresh and informative. Our regional moderators and coordinators help maintain the regional forums, an excellent resource for local networking with other photographers. Finally, we would like to thank those who have supported the site, whether financially through paid membership or purchases in the store, or through posting excellent advice and image critiques in the forums.

We have lots of exciting projects in the works for the upcoming year to add even more value to NatureScapes.Net!

My NatureScapes.Net "Portal" Page
A customizable home page with weather, news, links to photography resources like sunrise and sunset tables, tide charts, integrated with the forums for easy reporting of new and/or watched topics.

NatureScapes.Net Toolbar
A toolbar designed especially for NatureScapes.Net, with quick links to the different forums, a magnifying tool to inspect images more closely, and other features.

Expanded Profile Page
We are looking to expand the forum profile page to allow biographical and other personal information, plus a small collection of images should you wish to share a photo of yourself, a wedding, a new child, etc.

NatureScapes.Net Convention
Based on a suggestion from Scott Bourne, we are already in the works organizing a NatureScapes.Net convention! This event will be considerable, to include presentations, seminars, portfolio reviews, vendor displays, networking opportunities, and more over a two to three day period. Stay tuned, as the dates and location will be announced shortly!

We always welcome your feedback, please contact us any time! Thanks for being a part of the site. We look forward to another year with the community at NatureScapes.Net!
